Paniz Musawi Natanzi has a PhD in Gender Studies from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London. Her doctoral research examined “The War Mode of Visual Art Production: A Feminist Geopolitical Analysis of Art-Producing Masculinities in Kabul from 2014-2018”. Currently, Paniz is Lead Researcher at POMA (Peace of Mind Afghanistan) and is in particular involved in research, evaluation and advocacy for the rehabilitation and mental health of minor and adult prison populations as well as of deported and voluntary returnees from Germany and the EU in Afghanistan.
Paniz has published amongst others in the international feminist art journal n.paradoxa, the Centre for a Feminist Foreign Policy, Art Represent and Pakistan Art Now and works as a Pandemic Researcher with the Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations. She has volunteered in the past 15 years for various associations active in the field of cultural education and healthy development of children and youth with and without special needs in Afghanistan, England and Germany.
